Our Story

A community dramatically affected by the love of our Heavenly Father

The Church Without Walls

What started as a small gathering in Westbury is growing into a network of communities across the Southwest — groups are forming in Devizes and being established in North Wiltshire and Dorset. The church meets on Sundays in a building, but the real life of the church is in the various communities that have developed.

We follow the New Testament pattern of meeting in homes and reaching out to friends and neighbours — offering friendship, prayer, and preaching the Gospel of the Kingdom. We see the healing ministry of Jesus as an intrinsic part of the reality of God in us and among us. We either proclaim the Gospel and demonstrate it, or demonstrate His power and proclaim the Gospel.

"We don't just preach the Word of God. We live it. And when you live it, things happen. People are healed. Relationships are restored. Lives are changed — not by theory, but by truth becoming lived experience."

Today CLG is a vibrant, Spirit-filled community rooted in conservative evangelical and charismatic tradition. We believe in the gifts of the Spirit for today. We believe in healing. We believe in the power of community. And we see the evidence of all three, regularly. We also look to encourage more mature believers to come alongside new believers and those new to the church — so there is a one-to-one connection where each is valued. We always stop for the one.

Devizes Team Leader

Aurora is a vital part of our leadership team. She pastors our Filipino community and provides pastoral oversight in Devizes — all while continuing her studies at Bible College, caring for her ever-growing family, and holding down a job.

Our Trustees

Church of the Living God is governed by a board of trustees who carry legal and financial responsibility for the charity.

Our mission work in Madagascar is led by Rev. Paul Battershill.

Our Communities

CLG isn't one church in one building. We're a growing network of cell groups and communities spread across the Southwest. Each one is a small expression of the same family — gathering in homes, reaching out to friends and neighbours wherever life is being lived. Groups are run on a monthly, fortnightly, or weekly basis as needed. Formal church prayer meets fortnightly, with prayer meetings in homes weekly or fortnightly alongside it.

Charities We Support

CLG tithes approximately 10% of its income to organisations doing vital work at home and around the world. These are the charities we currently support:

Mission Aviation Fellowship
The world's largest humanitarian air operator, flying medical supplies, doctors, and nurses to places no one else can reach.
The Salvation Army
A global Christian charitable organisation providing social services, disaster relief, and community support.
Vision for Israel
Helping protect and restore lives — increasing peace and prosperity in Israel through building, education, medical, and disaster relief.
Ignite Madagascar
Our missionary project in Madagascar, headed by Rev. Paul Battershill. Providing practical and spiritual support to those in need — preaching the Gospel through word and deed.
Christian Blind Mission
Creating lasting change for millions of people with disabilities in some of the world's poorest places — healthcare, education, and a future where they can thrive.
Trussell Trust
An anti-poverty charity and community of food banks working to ensure no one in the UK needs a food bank to survive.

We also support local initiatives through regular volunteering, practical help, and street-level outreach.
